Sterling Silver Starfish with faceted Swarovski Crystals
.
This commission was a little different because it wasn't anything that needed to be soldered or wrapped etc..  This lady wanted, at first, for me to make her hair combs with starfish attached to them to wear with her wedding dress, (beach wedding).  After discussion what type of hair comb the lady wanted we decided that I should just made the starfish and then she could attach them to whatever type of comb she wound up using because she wasn't sure how her hair would be done.
.
After making the set for her hair and sending them to her for approval, she wanted me to make her two for her sandals.  I included holes in them and wire to attach them with.  her wedding isn't until October of 2002... I am excited to see how these look on her!

Once again, this commissions was done completely via e-mail and phone... which is why I wanted the customer to see them in person, before making more, in case she had any changes that she'd like done but she didn't.  Here's what she said once she received the first set:
.
"Shannon, I received the starfish on Saturday. They are going to look so elegant with my dress. The multiple sizes of rhinestones you picked out are just perfect. Love the sparkle!  I think I'll have you make a couple medium sized ones for my shoes that I can attach with some kind of wire connected to the back of the starfish.  Thank you for the great job, I'll wear them with pride. "

This commission was a lot of fun because I got to do something different from the usual metalsmithing tasks.
